THE 340 CIPHER WAS CRACKED ON DECEMBER 3RD 2020 BY DAVE ORANCHAK, SAM BLAKE AND JARL VAN EYCKE, SO THIS EARLIER ARTICLE SHOULD BE VIEWED IN RESPECT TO RECENT DEVELOPMENTS. Professor D.C.B. Marsh told the San Francisco Examiner on October 22nd 1969: "The killer wouldn't dare, as he claimed in letters to the newspapers, to reveal his name in the cipher to established cryptogram experts. He knows, to quote Edgar Allen Poe, that any cipher created by man can be solved by man. Zodiac has not told the truth in his cipher messages to the Examiner, the Chronicle and the Vallejo Times-Herald. Zodiac has not done this, because to tell the complete truth in relation to his name - in cipher code - would lead to his capture. I invite Zodiac to send The American Cryptogram Association a cipher code - however complicated - which will truly and honestly include his name". According to Edgar Allen Poe, any cipher created by man can be solved by man. Which is why Zodiac created the apologetic "sorry no cipher". I am sure that Zodiac was a well read individual Rubislaw, including comics and novels of science fiction. The Tim Holt comic book, Dick Tracy comic book, and the satirical comedic opera of The Mikado, blended with the Most Dangerous Game, and possibly a sprinkling of Charlie Chan, Alfred Hitchcock and the Batman comics (hence the Riddler notes, if Zodiac), present a picture of a man driven by satire and crime. It is perfectly feasible Robert Heinlein featured on this Little List. Remember, "its just one big thirteenth" from the 13 Hole postcard was taken directly from a comic strip (wasn't it Charlie Brown). I believe Zodiac found the Tim Holt comic book well before October 27th 1970, in the Fairfield letter, and could have been in the back of his mind for the "by knife" attribution on the car door on September 27th 1969. The Zodiac circle depicts people around a wheel, just like the wheel of fortune or rota fortunae. If you look at the Tim Holt comic book, Redmask is tied around a wheel, just like the rota fortunae - The origin of the word is from the "wheel of fortune"—the zodiac, referring to the Celestial spheres of which the 8th holds the stars, and the 9th is where the signs of the zodiac are placed.

There has been some talk ( again ) recently , ruminating on the Zodiac being born in the Zodiac sign of Aquarius . '' The Water Carrier '' , with suggested allusions to water , in his crimes .

If you had to pick the month Zodiac was born, what would it be and why? 3/24/2020 05:07:03 am
...by the way , a claimed solution to Scorpion's S5 cipher ends the penultimate sentence , and starts the ultimate sentence , thus :

I'm not really in a position to answer that , Richard , since I would be swayed by a suspect's date of birth . Middle of a calendar year anyway , but do not believe that the Zodiac's own birthday was of that much significance to him .

I believe that we observe a distinct dichotomy with the Zodiac , when it comes to greetings and celebration of an event , marked by a date .

I always figured that "Fk" was to replace the word "frankly", which he would have to replace if his name was Frank Hart****
