"The Map Coupled with the Code. . ."  will lead to Name & Residence?

8/28/2017

This article was written by Alex Lewis (Welsh Chappie), whose own site detailing Zodiac suspect Lawrence Kane, can be found here.

Ok Credit has to go to Carl Karase, A Facebook Zodiac Group member who has an interest in Suspect: Xen Anthony.

He readily admits there is no complex method to this below, no cryptic breaking of the Cipher Text nor Key found and used but simply just playing around and wondered if the Name 'Xenophon Anthony' and His residential address would fit into the Zodiac's "The Map Coupled with the code will tell you where the bomb is set.  You have till next fall to dig it up" Couple iof lines of Code? After having a 'Why not, let's have a go' moment.  what resulted can be viewed below. . .
Picture

Now I post the above hoping anyone who is fairly competent to give a rough mathematical odds of this fitting perfect please leave a comment. Myself and Competent when Maths are concerned. . . . .  Behave will You!  :-)

The Bomb is set..."You have till next fall to dig it up"

I'm going to try look into when Xenophon left that residence. If it was around the Fall immediately following this letter coming from the blue felt pen that Zodiac almost trademarked as His own Communication Writing Pen of choice to form the words and style of writing that is so familiar to most of the Serious Zodiac Researchers.....If Xenophon Moved out around that time then Patrol Sgt. R. Grinell, Colleague of Mine will be notified and dispatched with Arrest Warrant for A Xenophon Lusby Anthony,

He is under the ground Sgt. Grinell and Deceased, But I am Your Superior Chief Insp. who is Alive with Xenophon Under Suspicion!

Grinell.......I may need You to respond in the very near future with Your 'Red Light & Siren!'  Listen for the radio Call and I will try my best not to give You the Dispatch details for Xenophon as: "All units, by all units I mean Sgt. R.Grinell please respond to reports of a Suspicious BMAD! Or Black Male Adult Deceased! Five Feet ten Inches down and don't you dare allow this BMAD to go because you assumed that He cannot be fdetained for questioning! Some suspects will pass away Sgt which just goes to shows the lengths some offenders will go to in order to avoid detection!

Armond Pelissetti has a suspicious vehicle stopped on the Grounds of the Presidio just further back behind Julius Kahn Play-Area. . .

The problem with the Z32 is the lack of repeating characters-29 in all. It could never be decoded without initially being given the key. This being the case means you can effectively place any 32 letter answer under the symbols without any way of proving it was correct, and equally may I say incorrect. Even if it was solvable, the likelihood of Zodiac placing his address and name in the code is almost nil. Even if this was the answer, it could also never convict or implicate the person named in the code, if they couldn't tie that person as the author of the letter. Zodiac had carte blanche to implicate anybody in one of his letters, had he chosen to do so. It is an interesting finding by Carl, in view of suspects presented and named, but we have to remember he wasn't declaring this code to reveal a name, likely a location where a bomb was buried. I doubt Zodiac would place a bomb in his own house.
In terms of odds, any sequence of words adding up to 32 letters gives you millions of alternatives. So effectively you could never prove you had the correct answer without a corresponding key, which we haven't unearthed. I like innovative new suggestions such as this, which are always worth looking into. For me, because I don't believe Xenophon Anthony was the Zodiac Killer from the preponderance of evidence, there would be no reason for his name to be found in the 32 symbol cipher. I wrote a few articles on Xen, but came to the conclusion recently he is an unlikely suspect, additionally ruled out by fingerprints, that I genuinely believe to be Zodiac's in blood on the taxicab. For those who believe Xen is a viable suspect, this 'decoding' is likely more interesting. Heck, I have put enough theories out there, that even I don't believe. This is not a dismissive response to Carl's idea, just I doubt it, because I doubt Xenophon Anthony as a realistic suspect anymore.

Sgt. Grin, your observation of:

"The problem with the Z32 is the lack of repeating characters-29 in all."

That is exactly the thing that I noted and was pondering earlier. The 408 & 340 (Well the 408 is without question at least) a Homophonic Substitution Cipher, which means several different symbols can and often do represent one single alphabetical letter to make deciphering efforts that bit harder because as Chronicle Cartoonist Robert Grey-Area (of truth and fact telling) said of the Hardens logic "So he (Don Harden) said to Himself 'Kill. He likes to kill. . . Double L! Double L is the most common symbol seen in The English Language and so if You see double symbols next to each other in the code You can almost be assured it's Double L's."

Really! Not in a homophonic substitution code it isn't. In fact, this very logical obviousness of double/same two symbol appearing several times in a code will not fool even an amateur code breaker with a passing interest that 'Square followed by Square' seen 5 times throughout a code will soon become suspiciously focused upon as LL! This is why the Homophonic sub. Cipher was invented to stop that happening!

But I have to correct You Sgt. The code above shows two O symbols. So even it is just one symbol that is in the code more than once, it is there Twice none the less, :-)

I am humbled to be mentioned in the course of your work, Alex and Richard. Reading through your posts is more fun and informative than most books on the case, and you've put some hard work into it.

One letter that I find most fascinating is the one to Belli. I believe it expresses the Zodiac's true feelings about his compulsion to kill. Still he's torn about revealing his Identity. What if after being questioned, fingerprinted and so on and having been cleared, he anticipates what the 2 of you have been discussing with this suspect, that his information can't be released until after his death. He makes an impossible keyless cipher with address and name, that can only be intuited by someone who has the FBI info? The bomb details being fantasy

Carl, in regards to your commenting:

"I am humbled to be mentioned in the course of your work, Alex and Richard. Reading through your posts is more fun and informative than most books on the case, and you've put some hard work into it."

Much appreciated and thank you for the compliments. Your more than welcome to contribute here at Richard's site and I, as Richard will attest to, never have and never will claim to be correct in all that i theorise or say. . . even though I clearly am, I abstain from stating it. (Ha, just kidding obviously).

When it comes to having a sense of humor, some 'Get it' while others don't. I think this was a big part of the problem over at ZodiacKillerSite.com and the way it ran because the powers that be over there seem to take themselves and what they have to say far far to seriously. I am not suggesting we should be posting humorous comments every other post on the forum boards, but I do so now and then simply because that's my personality and how I am in everyday life. I also see a value in lightening up what is a dark & sinister subject every now and then lest we become drawn into a World that is either depressive, or as we see with the likes of T. Void, become fans of the focus of our attention...ie, Zodiac.

If that is offensive to some, then I can't help nor control how others react to something I have said. That's why I enjoy it here and respect Richards laid back attitude and clear belief in the freedoms of speech and expression.

I don't know if Mike Morford knows or even would take time to care if He did know that in the immediate aftermath of My deciding to leave His site after winning a chat restriction for the crime of defending myself against insults issued by a Moderator that I had scored of personal messages via email that usually began "Welsh, please don't say I am emailing you this..." then went on to tell me they were shocked at it was Myself who was targeted as the one in the wrong and that as one member there stated "For what it's worth Welsh, I agree that it was not yourself that should have been singled out as the instigator of that argument, and I Myself will miss your contributions here."

I've always said, 95% of the members there I got along fine with, but politics and personal alliances trump fairness and equality over there which is why in the several years since leaving the site, I have not once thought of returning to it.

Including my own, which I don't make exception to, I have probably viewed hundreds of solutions to the Z13, Z32, and Z340 and taking it there is only one solution to each, means 99.5 % are incorrect, but most likely all, including my own. It reminds me of religion, in which the same sort of blind faith exists. I am an atheist, but even most religious people have more in common with me than they would like to admit. Of the 4,200 religions in the world, each particular one is atheistic to 4,199 of the doctrine of the others. People have an utter conviction about their faith above others. The same can be said of the utter conviction people have in the Zodiac case regarding their solutions to ciphers, and their pet suspects, to the extent that when someone critically disagrees with their premise, all hell breaks loose. Sorry about the pun. The good thing Carl is that you, along with Alex and I can accept that we may not always be correct, and if we do believe we are correct, we can accept not everybody will see it that way. By crikey, I've written some nonsense in the past, and still probably do, but hopefully I am learning and not making as many mistakes as before. I value all constructive input to my site and respond as much as possible, even though the answers I give may not please everybody. The key is being honest and hopefully not always agreeing just to avoid offending anybody. In essence your presentations for the Z32 and Z13 in combination are interesting based on what Alex unearthed from the FBI files, but a definitive answer on the validity of both or either, based on the lack of characters in the Z13 and the lack of repeated characters in the Z32, makes a determination nigh on impossible. Even if somebody unearthed the true answer based on a key found in later Zodiac communications, it would still present the problem of now validating the key is the one Zodiac intended. For me anyway, I cannot see a solution ever being unearthed for any of the remaining ciphers. Cheers Rich.

Not only do the Religious declare that it's with regret & an apology that all religions are false and the work of the Devil except, that is, the one that they believe! Now the religious will then, rather willingly & conveniently, ignore the simple fact that where one is born & raised will determine almost without exception what Religion you follow or denomination thereof.

For Example Rich if You were born in the Middle East then you almost certain to not have the same view's as You do being Richard The Democratic Brit from he Wester Cultured Society.

You probably couldn't or wouldn't be allowed to be a sceptical non-believer Richard & You would lkely freely be a believer in the wonderful & very accurately Described Religion of Peace aka.. . . Islam. Now that your a Muslim Rich You would now be totally convinced that Mohammed really did attend a meeting in Heaven with God and all He needed to get there was a flying magic carpet which, it just so happened, found one for sale down at the local Car Boot Sale, You know, where the best flying Carpet bargain's are discovered all the time!

And fear not Richard because an idiotic Infidel like Me who may pass up such a great offer to accept you & Your flying carpets Rich, Well that would not be A concern of Yours personally as You may simply leave infidel Alex for The Religion of Peace's community of Suicide Bombers!

Alex Lewis
11/1/2017 04:58:10 pm

. . . And speaking of the that Religion of Peace that likes to lop off hands, heads and stone Women into the The Afterlife, I haven't seen confirmation yet I have simply read One single AOL News Headline "NY City attacked: 7 Confirmed Dead." That was yesterday to which spurned a Facebook Status Update from Myself.. . . .

I think and said, rather controversially I know but as Hitch once said: "These long to become martyrs, well We are here to help them with that."

My own belief is that enough is enough now, time to get radical in thee approach to eradicating this vermin with. . .

New York attacked again, at least 7 Confirmed Dead. No confirmation yet, but I bet it's another outburst by a follower of The Religion of Peace and it's love for the West!

During the end of the Second World War, with Hitlers Nazis defeated and Germany declaring surrender, Japan were still waging war with America, that was until The United States called on their Nuclear arsenal and dropped two Atomic Bombs EndiNg the Conflict instantaneously with The surrender of Japan and thus Ending WWII.
.
How many more must die at the Hands of ISIS before Trump's attitude is: "Fk this, hit the button, get the Nuclear Rockets into Standby mode ready for launch!"

If Nuclear arms and response is never the option or to be considered, then what is the justification for having such weapons?

Richard

Personally I don't think the answers lie in the ciphers, because my guess is if they are solved, will contain more inane ramblings as in the 408 cipher. Putting aside DNA or fingerprint matches, I tend to go with the idea that the confirmed early crimes of Zodiac are likely the key. Find the residence, then find the man, rather than randomly searching for suspects in this case. Alex I believe focuses a lot of his articles on Presidio Heights, because he believes a residence in San Francisco may hold the key, particularly in the immediate aftermath of the Stine shooting. While we both agree on the movements of Zodiac in those crucial minutes, we differ when it comes to me advocating a park escape to Cow Hollow and vehicle. Alex, I hope I'm not misreporting his convictions, emphasizes that a house may be of utmost importance in the locale. While we differ, I think we probably agree that narrowing down an area of interest can focus the investigation. I have changed my opinion throughout the five years I first heard of Zodiac, but at this particular juncture, I feel the key lies probably 10-15 minutes walking distance from the Springs and Tuolumne payphone. The Debut of Zodiac letter seemed to want to sell us the idea of a black male witness spotting both "me and my car", and the fact his vehicle was brown. Nice and helpful, if you ask me. Nobody came forward and nobody located this negro male. Secondly- why say "When I hung the phone up the damn thing began to ring & that drew his attention to me + my car". Why add "car" on the end, it's superfluous. Thirdly- why write "the man who told police that my car was brown was a negro about 40-45 rather shabbly dressed", when he couldn't have read this. The sheer detail of 40-45 and shabbily dressed is unnecessary, unless you are attempting to imprint the notion this man is real. Fourthly- Why insinuate the negro male is corroborating the brown car description by Michael Mageau. This is what you do, when you know your car isn't brown. This coupled with adding in "me + my car" leaves me believing he was on foot. He attached the "car" to throw investigators from the idea he lived nearby and likely just randomly stopped at that payphone. The phone call was 40 minutes after the attack, he could've made that phone call from anywhere, rather than in close proximity to the police station and crime scene, if he had a vehicle still with him. He may simply have dropped his "non brown" car at home, along with the weapon and simply walked to the nearest payphone, leaving a reasonable buffer of 10-15 minutes. He may well have used the very same payphone after LHR, if we believe the crank call mentioned by Pierre Bidou. Like Alex, I think that concentrating on Zodiac's movements rather than his ciphers may well deliver us the answer. I just wish I had access to land registry records from 1969, to search this golden square half mile around the Springs and Tuolumne intersection, or even the phone book records, but unfortunately I either cannot find either or have access to them.
This for me is my central focus currently, because I believe a Vallejo residency for Zodiac. Alex, I believe opts for San Francisco with equal belief and justification. Where do you believe the focus should lie Carl?

Alex Lewis
9/27/2017 12:21:45 pm

That I do Richard, that I do Indeed! Anyhow, regarding your comment Rich:

"I just wish I had access to land registry records from 1969, to search this golden square half mile around the Springs and Tuolumne intersection, or even the phone book records, but unfortunately I either cannot find either or have access to them."

I can't promise anything Rich, but I may just know of someone who can help You with this. He has dug up and unearthed so much info for sources and places that I His finding's are, I have often thought, impressive. I can't promise He can and will be able to help with what you want mate but He's the Kinda person that You'd say "If anyone can, that person can." Drop Him an email for you mate and let You know if He can Help You.

OK, no worries :-)

I was watching TITZS, well the Presidio Heights Crime and Don and Armond's recollection said events and I don't why I never noticed it before as a point to pay any attention to or assign any significance but Fouke stated:

"I then wrote a scratch, or inter-departmental Memorandum to give to my Lt. to forward to Homicide so they may have the additional information about the appearance of the suspect."

Who was Don's Lieutenant back in day? He claims He gave the Momo. to Him whoever He was. See, just goes to show that despite having watched it at least, I don't know. . . 50 times easily over the past several years, there are still things to learn that can be overlooked :-)))

You need a Vallejo friend. I agree the first two Vallejo crimes can solve the case, the bldgs in that area with the sheriff's also housed a boy scout head office but the rotary office as well as the victims new house. There are some co incidents for you. I appreciate your work and words.

Alex Lewis

"Alex, I believe opts for San Francisco with equal belief and justification."

Oooh now I wouldn't go that far Richard!! I mean, I will believe anything if/when it is claims made by The Police! Especially this wonderful agency who's cops on Oct. 11h completely and utterly F*c**d up from start to finish on scene, before anyone could r would have chance to F*ck up the subsequent investigation of the Homicide!

Could just be me obviously but for Two Inner City Patrol-Cops who were the poster boys in blue for "How to go beyond Incompetent & into Criminal Negligence" wen't on to receive Promotions while each asserting that the other is a liar who falsified crime reports while covering up the stopping and questioning of a suspect etc etc and. . .

Patrolman Fouke became Sgt. Fouke soon after!!

Patrolman Pelissetti went to the Top for His incompetence and became: 'Inspector Pelissetti'

BRAVO!! Promote the Policemen up the ranks based on the more incompetent they are, the higher in rank they go. . . to infinity & beyond! Or more appropriately....Insanity and Beyond!

Richard
9/28/2017 08:54:30 am

I reckon they spliced the documentary and put it back in the wrong order. We know Fouke only turned southbound on Cherry having already travelled to Arguello and WPA and Julius Khan. So Donald Fouke shouting expletives about the amended update is baloney, when he had already received it 90-120 seconds ago. There are so many contradictions in the stories, I don't know how anybody believes it for a second.

Alex Lewis
9/28/2017 02:25:31 pm

"I reckon they spliced the documentary and put it back in the wrong order."

No I agree there Rich, there's always been a clear 'Jumping from one comment & player to a another' which seems to be down The Editor's Editing of the Documentary getting certain splices and Editing in and/or out things extensively to then point where the Final Version/Cut is does not make logical sense in terms of Chronological sequencing for Presidio Heights/Paul Stine Homicide Re-telling.

That may be the Editors fault yes, but The Editor cannot be the cause of Armond clearly stating "However, in subsequent conversations with Him, He (Fouke) told Me that He did stop somebody. . ." Fouke replies Directly to this allegation not once, but twice:

"We Never stopped the Man, We never talked to Him! That is an emphatic statement by me, I wouldn't make the Denial!" Later, Armond again brings up the issue by making an assumption as to Why Fouke may be denying this fact in public to this day saying:

"It seems that in that amount of time Officer Fouke felt He had stopped the Zodiac!"

Fouke now gets almost exasperated, maybe even angry in replying in tone of voice: "We DID NOT stop the Zodiac!! We didn't stop anyone!"

Well, I don't believe I will be awarded a Nobel Prize as I don't know of the existence yet of The Nobel Prize for stating the obvious but I know both cannot be correct & truthful. . . One of them is lying!

Shocking isn't it! I am even very confident it isn't Pelissetti lying here and that is all I shall say because I have been before by a certain Richard person that maybe I may wish to reconsider writing to Fouke directly because of the disgraceful and deplorable things I have said of Him that Donald may wish to reply to my repulsive personage with a 'Fouke Off' Dismissive letter!

PS - I am only mentioning this Richard on account of You being absolutely right hence. . . One still refrains from Peeewwwsting My letter from His Majestaaairrrrhh, His Royal Highness. . . . Welsh Chappairrrr!

In other words Rich, it's unfortunate but, on this occasion, You were Correct :-)

Alex Lewis
11/11/2017 04:46:18 pm

Rich, You stated: "Alex, I hope I'm not misreporting his convictions, emphasizes that a house may be of utmost importance in the locale."

No, You are not misrepresenting My opinion mate, that's a fair comment/statement to make. Unless, obviously, Your suggesting I have an opinion that by 'House being of utmost importance' you start adding that "This is because Alex holds the opinion that the Zodiac scaled a side drainpipe all the way up and onto the roof-top where He then sat upon the chimney to observe the SFPD's searching for Him.'

I would have to draw a line in some proverbial sand then Richard and rebut this by suggesting that it's inaccurate and non factual in terms of what I actually believe. I never suggested, nor mentioned a Chimney Richard and so this is an absurdity! I suggested He was sat on the exterior window-ledge of 3712 Jackson's 3rd story back/read window!

I mean if one is going to quote Me Mr G then please, don't get it wrong to the point where it starts to sound absurd as an opinion! Ha!

Alex Lewis
12/20/2017 12:05:01 am

Rich concentrating on Zodiacs Movements rather than His Ciphers with a belief this will lead to a more productive finding or solid conclusion etc, yeah, in most instances I would agree.

Where are the known last movements of Zodiac on The final confirmed last ever sighting of Him? Is it as the Memo suggests "Last observed heading North on Maple Street." Or "Because He was putting His head Down when He spotted the Police car....and turned into the entrance way of house." And "Never saw Him get to the top of the stairs to address...3712 Jackson Street. I never put it in My report, and I don't think that I've ever told anyone."

Fouke clarifies why....

"Because I assumed that He (Offender) didn't live in the neighborhood. . . I dnt know if He did live there, didn't live there. . . Let the Inspectors follow through."

If Fouke informed His Superiors of WMA turning down a pathway heading for3712 front door then telling Superiors so Homicide Inspectors can run this lead down several days after the fact isn't likely to produce results. Did Inspector Armstrong chase this lead down the pathway then into rear garden area of 3712 Jackson on Nov 13th with Guns drawn and pointed at several conifer tress that Zodiac could still be hiding in A full Month later?

God help us if Helen was trimming the trees out of sight at rear of garden as Tosch, Armstrong and 3 Uniformed cops burst into the garden area roaring: "You inside the Conifers...get on the mother-fu£&*@g Ground NOW!

San Fran Chronicle: SAn Francisco PD have apologized with blushes after ordering Helen B. Bloch, A Judge in The City Youth Court, to get on the ground at gunpoint! Dave Toschi is now The SFPD Homicide Dpt. Janitor and laughing stock of the Agency."

Alex Lewis
7/12/2018 07:52:40 pm

"Personally I don't think the answers lie in the ciphers, because my guess is if they are solved, will contain more inane ramblings as in the 408 cipher."

That Rich, is the very reason I put forward every time the topic of the 340 comes up. Why would those who tackle it expect that if it were conclusively cracked & all experts were giving the nod they were agreeing it was the correct deciphering then, what or why should anybody expect the message to be anything different to that of the ravings of the deciphered 408?

We know this writer has a sense of Humor so I half imagine the 340 to begin . . . "After My first message of useless nothingness, you would think people would know better. Iff your reading this now, you've taken much time and effort to decode another useless rambling load of bullshit! Haha..."

The 408 He stated "In this cipher is my idenity" and sure enough, when deciphered. . . "I will not give you my name because you will try to slow down or stop my collecting of slaves for my afterlife" Stated the writer. That is the logic Law Enforcement were working on, the idea that He needs to be apprehended now, before any other people are shot dead & forever become slaves in the spirit world of serial killing nutcase.

I think the codes are just something He sent to amuse Himself with by watching a percentage of society try vigorously to decode them. Every claimed 'Solve' of His 340 no doubt amuses Him. He asked rhetorically once "By the Way, are you having fun with the code i sent you? If not, tell them to cheer up, when they do crack it, they will have me..."

Anyone really believe Him? Nobody takes his claim serious here & believes when decoded his full name, address with house number & zip code will spell out in the text.

Zodiac is a trickster. He likes merging fact with fiction to blur the lines of where reality stops & His silly fantasy begins. He doesn't truly believe He's on a slave collecting mission for His awaiting afterlife, that's a load of shit he writes and does so specifically in the decoded text of the 408 cipher thus all but telling us: "This deciphered message is a load of absolute bull shit..."

His 340? No, that cipher will be different! Hmmm. I doubt that very much!

Shelli

Rich, are you aware that Presidio has a comprehensive underground bunker city. Geraldo Rivera exposed it in an attempt to bust open the satanic panic investigation. This could explain escape and the ability to spy on the cops. Have you heard?

Richard
3/3/2018 11:30:42 pm

Yes Shelli, I read it on Zodiac Killer Site forum from a member there. That certainly would be an ingenious escape route. I don't believe that is what he did because of the descriptions he gave in the 'Bus Bomb' letter, that indicated a west to east movement across the park with constant visibility on the unfolding search for him. It would be interesting however, to have the original plans and see what existed in 1969.

Alex Lewis
4/4/2018 07:29:06 pm

So when it is said 'Then, after the Stine killing, The Zodiac went underground...' they aint talking figuratively, He literally did.... Go Underground?
