General Zodiac Case Observations

1/1/2016

This article was written by Alex Lewis (Welsh Chappie), whose own site detailing Zodiac suspect Lawrence Kane, can be found here.

This post will be non-specific and simply a posting/comment and feedback area for the general, non specific case related circumstance and anything else of interest regarding this Case. So, to make this point I shall begin with a few random posts myself. Trivial Points of Interest such as, to begin, Armonds Job Title here. . .

It's a curious coincidence to note that, here in the first of the three points about, Armond we discover is now a Probation Officer for the Youth Court.
One Helen B. Bloch happened to be A Juvenile Court Judge, Helen Bloch who resided with Her Husband Fred at 3712 Jackson Street.
He was also a Patrolman, and later in His career, was promoted to Homicide Dvsn and 'Inspector Pelissetti.'

Fouke is also Captioned on TV in the Seventies as 'SGT. Donald Fouke' so He also appears to have been promoted.
Maybe the SFPD Chiefs look at inconsistencies, altering your accounts, calling fellow cops liars etc and punish the Cop doing any of the above with a promotion award!

Alex what years was Fred Bloch working in homicide and was he alongside Armond Pelissetti. And how long did the Bloch's live at 3712 Jackson Street.

"Alex what years was Fred Bloch working in homicide and was he alongside Armond Pelissetti."

My Apologies Rich, I worded the above in a way that it does read as my implying that Fred Bloch was an Employee of The San Fran PD and this was in error, and when I write the sentence starting "He was also a Patrolman. . ." I am referring to Armond and not, as my wording does imply, Fred.

Again Rich my apologies and I said before that I am simply too Impatient, lazy, call, it what yoy will, I am that very thing and never re-read over a post I publish even in a proof-reading style because I am just too impatient lol.
I Should end with signing off this message by using A Zodiac letter signing out statement, only my statement would differ to the total of two words, words I shall Cryptically substitute for two other words so the statement would now read:

"I hope you have fun trying to figure out what I am saying."

ME - Don't know myself.

In a post on the other thread Rich you stated "Alex, if we start at Fouke arriving at Arguello and then work backwards from there. . . "

This will be easy Richard because if you were to ask my close friends to 'describe Alex in A Word' 8 out of 10 people asked would not hesitate in their replying to ou with "BACKWARDS."

Thought "Alex, I've never met anyone as backwards as you appar to be" was a Compliment of the Highest kind until I was 30.

Every time someone brought up and commented on me being the most backward person they have ever met I would reply by thanking them for saying so and adding that it means a lot to me to have people acknowledge my obvious backward nature. 30 Richard.... Thirty years of age before finding the diagnostic definition! Inconsolable for 8 Months solid.

I know we both question the 38 year gap by Donald Fouke to arrive at his 3712 Jackson Street surprise. But taking it to be true, how can we link this sighting, the Bloch residence, his connection to homicide and the Zodiac Killer in any meaningful way that makes you wonder. Did you once say Helen was a seamstress or have I got that wrong.

Alex

"But taking it to be true, how can we link this sighting, the Bloch residence, his connection to homicide and the Zodiac Killer in any meaningful way?"

I don't know Rich how we can achieve the above, nor am I going to try. I stated that sentence Richie with the words " It's a curious coincidence to note. . ." so there's what I acknowledge and suggest this is Rich, a curious little fact that yes, is interesting, but a coincidental one.

"Fouke said that a month later he saw the composite at Richmond Station, he looked similar to the man he had seen on Jackson, then wrote the memo, so his superiors would have the additional information about the suspect, believing him to be older and heavier."

Yeah I know, He's referring to the Meno we are all familiar with that He submitted on 12th November. Don would have told His superiors of the WMA Encounter the night it happened and the Dpt likely, seeing the consequences for allowing a killer to walk away, adopted a 'It never happened' policy publicly but Don would have been the inspiration for the amended version of the sketch In my opinion. Can't prove that, but who else could have had input on an amendment?

Well the Jackson St 'Turned into the entrance way of a House' reveal almost 40 years after the fact I have to think is accurate because if you weigh up the pro's and con's, then there are no pros and lots of cons in Don 'amending' his account.

- People will demand to know why He lied in his original memo.
- People will question why He did not return to search the grounds.
- People will want to know why it has taken 40 years to tell the truth!

I also think Armond Pelissetti did encounter Fouke at Cherry & Jackson but it was as Armond was going down Cherry onto Jackson, not back from Jackson to Cherry.
It would make sense because this explains why Don never returned Himself to the grounds of that house if, as He claims He did, tells Armond 'Oh shit, that was the suspect' He had just passed at the intersection and Amrond takes off toward that home's driveway while Don declares something like "I'll go around to W.P Avenue and cut him off if He tries to escape over the rear fence."

Armond seems to have a very good idea which way the White Guy went and traverses Cherry and He claims that His rational to go toward Maple rather than Arguello was simply:

"Got down to the corner of Jackson Street (On Cherry), had to make a choice and I was on the East side of the street so I turned right and couldn't see anyone in either direction, neither could I see anyone scaling the wall into the Presidio. Got all the way down to then next corner which was Maple. Decision No.2, which way to go? I looked to the left it was much darker there"...etc etc etc.

See for me the account of Suspect turning onto steps makes more sense because it never sat well with me at all that Don last observes WMA turning North on Maple because to turn North on Maple isn't a street it's a place where you'd turn down for one purpose and that is to go through the wall entrance into the presidio. Armond would have us believe He went to that exact 3712 area by randomly deciding after being on the East side of Cherry street, went down only to Maple Street again just happening to be where the suspect was last observed by Fouke. He went there in my opinion searching for the WMA after Fouke told Him He had just seen A WMA in that location as Don stated He did, and He and Eric dashed around onto West Pacific to cut off any escape attempt.

It does seem odd to want to contradict a 38 year old story. If however it is true why doesn't any police officer revisit the occupancy later and question the homeowner, which is the first thing you should do. Unless of course he did mention it to his superiors and "let the inspectors follow through", which maybe they did or didn't. We may never know, as the Stine report is less than thorough. They may have interviewed everybody who lived in Jackson and Cherry Street, going door-to-door, but obviously this detail would be unnecessary to include in a police report from the standpoint of privacy and relevance, if subsequently it led nowhere. We both have already substantiated that Pelissetti met Fouke at the area of Jackson and Cherry, with Armond coming from Cherry to Jackson. The trouble is, this could only have been after Fouke had already visited West Pacific Avenue and returned. In no way could Fouke have met Pelissetti directly after encountering the suspect. It takes Fouke (if as he claims he never stopped Zodiac), only 90 seconds to 2 minutes to reach the top of Cherry from Presidio Avenue after the initial radio call. Pelissetti simply cannot make the top of Cherry in 2 minutes after the initial radio call. It would take him at least 90 seconds to travel up Cherry cautiously and it took him at least 30 seconds to arrive at the crime scene. That's your 2 minutes gone already, never mind all the stuff he did at the crime scene. Which means that Donald Fouke had already visited WPA before he met Pelissetti. The decision of Pelissetti to randomly go down Jackson in my opinion was not random, he was informed by Fouke that he had encountered a suspect in that area, then Fouke probably returned to WPA for a second cursory scan of the area.

How can we know they didn't do exactly that? I don't think we can assume something never happened because it wasn't recorded in the police report based on what we know happened and yet these facts too never saw the police report list them, such as Armonds Encounter with a WMA at Maple. Don encounter we A WMA until Z forces the admission. There was another witness that ID'd a suspect that never saw the light of day.

Don never admitted He saw the guy turn onto the steps of 3712 until 2007, so it isn't going to feature in His Memo statement, a statement He was forced into making by Z in a letter to the Chronicle.

I am assuming Fouke saw the Zodiac approach the stairwell at 3712, as well as go up the stairs, because he certainly couldn't have done the slumbering, shuffling, trudging, semi-limping, blundering, drunken walk unless he had viewed Zodiac prior to him entering the stairwell. Actually I am surprised he could make it up a flight of stairs with seriously bad gout and trench-foot.

Yep, the cops saw Him Shuffling down the sidewalk and when the Truffle-Shuffle Moon-Walking Man On Michael Jackson Street spotted Fouke's cruiser:

"He was putting his head down when He spotted the police car, and turned into the entrance way of a house."

Not at all suspicious Rich, see cop car, stick head down to avoid eye contact, then turn completely away from the cops prowl car, this would not seem like suspicious behaviour to any cop at all except it would of course.

Oh Eric you misses that then while looking the other way! White Guy saw us, appeared to panic like F**k before running away up some steps. Was that the suspect Eric? Not likely, I assumed He was just a WMA obsessed with concrete Steps and liked to run up them for no reason. Continue to look the other way Eric, you shall observe Nothing Muhahaha!!"

Fouke said that a month later he saw the composite at Richmond Station, he looked similar to the man he had seen on Jackson, then wrote the memo, so his superiors would have the additional information about the suspect, believing him to be older and heavier. This would confirm therefore that Donald Fouke had nothing to do with the revised sketch of the suspect made only a few days after the original sketch. Strange then, that the revised sketch made by the 3 teenagers is older looking with a wider jaw line. What on earth influenced them to revise the sketch, had they not been influenced by Donald Fouke's interpretation.

"then wrote the memo, so his superiors would have the additional information about the suspect, believing him to be older and heavier. This would confirm therefore that Donald Fouke had nothing to do with the revised sketch of the suspect made only a few days after the original sketch."

Good point. Sandy B says on this very topic recently Rich....

"The amended sketch was based on Don Fouke's recollection and I was told this directly by the Sketch Artist" and She ends with "And so I am stating this as absolute fact, the 2nd updated sketch was based on Don Fouke's memory."

In having many dealings with Sandy previously Rich, it is my experience that if she makes a statement of fact such as that, then it's likely to be accurate & true.

Yeah I am familiar with the above listed businesses, Freddy Boy was an Investor and Had invested in numerous businesses around the Bay Area and others further afield.

Alex Lewis

Helen Bloch's Brother had a business literally within stone throw distance of Mason & Geary and not only that, but when I looked into Him further He owned a property on West Pacific Avenue that was directly right in front of JK Park.

Maybe they should have interviewed MR and Ms Bloch just as potential witnesses. I mean lets assume WMA did turn onto their steps, Zodiac informs us a cop car pulled up and one of them(suggestive of two cops present) "Called Him over."

Now if you have red lights flashing, sirens blaring, and a cop outside your house shouting for someone to stop and come over to their car then there is a good chance anyone in that house is going to hear this commotion, see lights flashing and look outside to see what is going on.
