Specific DNA testing able to determine Un-Sub's Hair & Eye Colour.

2/20/2016

This article was written by Alex Lewis (Welsh Chappie), whose own site detailing Zodiac suspect Lawrence Kane, can be found here.

Forensic Testing can be used to determine a suspects eye and hair colour, scientists say, to an 85% degree of accuracy using only the smallest amount of DNA. The Hirisplex system, as it's referred to, can determine this with as little as 6 DNA Markers.

Below is quoted material directly from a published report:

"Prof Kayser, from Erasmus University Medical Center in Rotterdam, the Netherlands, said: "The test is very sensitive and produces complete results on even smaller DNA amounts than usually used for forensic DNA profiling."

An important current approach, known as genetic profiling, involves comparing crime scene DNA with that from a suspect or with a profile stored in a database.

But this relies on the person either being among a pool of suspects identified by the police or having their profile in a DNA database.

Tools such as Hirisplex could be useful in those cases where the perpetrator is completely unknown to the authorities, said Prof Manfred Kayser, who led the study.

He said the test "includes the 24 currently best eye and hair colour predictive DNA markers. In its design we took care that the test can cope with the challenges of forensic DNA analysis such as low amounts of material."

The Article Continued with:

"The test system includes the six DNA markers previously used in a test for eye colour known as Irisplex, combining them with predictive markers for hair.

In the study, the authors used Hirisplex to predict hair colour phenotypes in a sample drawn from three European populations.

On average, their prediction accuracy was 69.5% for blonde hair, 78.5% for brown, 80% for red and 87.5% for black hair colour.

Analysis on worldwide DNA samples suggested the results were similar regardless of a person's geographic ancestry.

The team was also able to determine, with a prediction accuracy of about 86%, whether a brown-eyed, black haired person was of non-European versus European origin (excluding some nearby areas such as the Middle East).

The findings were also outlined at the sixth European Academy of Forensic Science conference in The Hague this week."

So, my question is, why haven't the lovely people over at that great agency called San Francisco Police Dpt. used the sample they have, partial as it may be is likely enough for this type of testing, and submitted it for this specific type of test.

No, this cannot and will not tell you who the Zodiac is, but it can and will help tell you who He is not!

Or will they again refuse (like they did when Mystery Quest requested a sample of the DNA offering to pay for their own testing) because they don't need such testing carried out to know what colour his eyes were because this would be pointless when, as it turns out, they can tell us the fella's name and address?

On the face of it the police departments refusal to co-operate with Mystery Quest smacks of lazy policing. It reminds me of some missing persons cases where it is convenient to place 24-72 windows of doing nothing in missing persons cases, rather than assessing cases on individual merit, it's a way of sitting on your arse by right of law, than actually getting off it. You are spot on Alex, genetic fingerprinting and the genome project have advanced us to a point where not only hair and eye colour can be determined, but the region of the world you were born and many other characteristics, too many to mention. Benicia and Vallejo had a population of around 70-80 thousand back in 1969. Using, hair colour, eye colour, age, glasses etc and cross referring these against the population, along with all the other things we know of Zodiac, this list would become whittled right down to manageable levels, the problem is that police in 1969 had little forensic and computer capabilities, the question today is what records still exist of the residents of Vallejo, Benicia or San Francisco to this day. Like you said though, a simple genetic test of the partial profile they have, lets say for eye colour, if it is Zodiac's DNA, could eliminate suspects quickly and easily, and stop some internet sleuths from wasting countless hours pursuing needless leads and theories.

" where it is convenient to place 24-72 windows of doing nothing...."

Yeah, then they turn round and tell you that in any missing persons, and homicide investigation it applies also, the first 48 hours are absolutely critical to finding the missing person alive, and/or to solving a homicide.

Homicide cases I think statistics say if the investigation has not turned up evidence of person/persons responsible in the first 72 hrs, the chances of solving the case is cut in half.

Stats prove that cases where no suspect was developed in the first 3 days were twice as likely to go unsolved.
Abductions are similar, the FBI say 90% or more abduction victims are murdered within the subsequent/initial 24 hour period of their being taken captive.

So knowing this, obviously the best policy is to do fk all for 24 hours because, like they will tell you, Adults are allowed to go missing of they want to.

Here is a portion from a previous article, that's relevant to this topic:
Recent developments have revealed a tantalizing glimpse into the future, offering the possibility to deliver the Zodiac Killer's identity right into the palms of our hands. This has been covered previously, but it will be expanded here, in a little more detail.
This new technique removes the need for the Zodiac Killer's or indeed any blood relative to have committed any previous or subsequent crimes and render the necessity of comparison tools such as CODIS redundant, in this instance. It all comes down to the Y chromosome, passed from one generation to another, along the male lineage, in exactly the same manner as ones surname is also passed along. Thereby providing an indelible connection between the Y marker and a man's surname, as an alternative crime fighting tool, and one that could provide us with the exact surname of the Zodiac Killer. This may not deliver the murderer of five people in Northern California on a platter, however, it would at the very least remove all but one of the high profile suspects or most likely all of them from our Zodiac researchers lists. But how does it work in practice and what are its limitations.
When a surname is carried down family lines for generations, an undeniable link exists between the surname and the Y chromosome, so when samples of DNA are retrieved from a current crime scene or from cold cases, they would have the Y chromosome isolated and bearing in mind its close connection to family lineage, used to reveal a surname. This of course would require a database, similar to CODIS, but this time when the Y marker is entered, the possible surname is availed to the observer. The police investigators would then use this to narrow down the field of view, regarding potential suspects and by the same note, remove suspicion from some entirely, reducing man hours and wasted blind avenues.
Research has shown the rarer the surname, the greater the chance a common ancestor is shared and this analysis can be viewed in greater detail in the two articles listed at the foot of this page. There are nevertheless drawbacks to any technique, in this case adoption and illegitimacy are two such examples, so caution needs to be applied.
The bottom line, is that the confirmed Y marker of the Zodiac Killer may just provide us with the name, that his ciphers promised, but always failed to deliver.

Well it's a funny thought whomever He was. Oct 11, the year is 1969, Presidio Heights area of San Francisco & a lone Man has taken ashort cab journey, and just left His yellow ride to walk short distance home, or at least that what it may appear to any unsuspecting bypassers on Cherry Street.

San Francisco first response vehicles and their occupant police officers have, one after another it would seem, hit their red lights and sirens. A mass of red lights and deafening sirens converge on Block between Cherry and Maple on Jackson looking for the fair who just refused to pay for His ride, deciding to save himself 3 dollars and blow the drivers head off as a very unreasonable alternative.

One of the first vehicles to approach the relevant vicinity is drive by experienced patrolman Donald Fouke, who is partnered with rookie youngster Eric Zelms. The inevitable is coming, both on one course of immediate collision as both approach the other and, so the Officer did see....

"A White Male Adult, falling and staggering all over the place like he'd just drank 10 double vodka's. White male manged to left head to see my approaching vehicle and tripped over His feet falling face first to the floor.
We came to a stop & called out to the odd looking man now on all fours crawling up the steps toward a residential driveway.
"Everything OK Sir?" I enquired? The man then lost balance and rolled down the 5 steps to the sidewalk and responded:

"Bluddy great Butty....Us of the possible Welsh Ancestry never could get to grips with the concept of steps.....oh well, must go now as I am dying my hair later due to poddibly greying at the rear, the perils of being thirty-five to Forty-Five hey pi...Officer. Oh well, its been a nice chat but *BANG!!* GRRRAAAA FKKKK! I AM SHAKING SO MUCH I JUST PULLED THETRIGGER OF MY GUN CONCEALED DOWN FRONT OF PLEATED TROUSERS......(High pitched voice) "GOOD LEEEEEUCK, I JUST SHOT MY LEFT TESTICLE OFF.....

He plunged himself onto the steps with a wave....

And a shot went off chucked Inspector called Dave, Tit willo tit willow, anyone have spare pillow....
