She was observed at the Sahara Tahoe Hotel & Casino before her shift wearing a navy blue pant suit, blue shoes and carrying a blue purse. Her purse containing car keys, personal cosmetics and a wallet containing money was found in her Monte Verdi apartment, but her blue pant suit and shoes were not. This suggests she arrived home from the Sahara Tahoe Hotel & Casino, placed her purse down (probably on the table), yet had failed to undress to go to sleep. One of the obvious things police would have checked was whether her bed was made, thereby possibly ruling out an intruder while she slept. Law enforcement stated there was no disturbances or signs of violence in her apartment (which would have included the bedroom). But there is one important detail I have omitted from the clothing she wore when arriving at the Sahara Tahoe Hotel & Casino to begin her shift at 6 pm on September 5th 1970.

In fact, between September 1st and September 21st, the two coldest days were September 5th and 6th---the days Donna Ann Lass would have traveled to and from work. This would explain why she was wearing, according to an eyewitness at the Sahara Tahoe Hotel & Casino, a navy blue pant suit, blue shoes and a rust colored raincoat upon her arrival to work.

This important detail would explain many things, including the timeline of her impending demise.

A civilian outfit refers to everyday, ordinary clothing worn by people, rather than a military uniform, work uniform, or special religious garb. The police report stated that Donna Lass' personal belongings were present in the apartment with the exception of the clothes she was seen wearing at the Sahara Tahoe Hotel & Casino on September 5th 1970. They also stated that an inspection of her apartment revealed that all her personal effects were found, with the exception of one civilian outfit previously described. If that civilian outfit included her rust colored raincoat, it would imply that Donna Lass was possibly under duress before she even had time to remove her raincoat that morning. The location her purse was found inside the apartment would also be useful to know. Whatever the case, Donna Lass arrived home that morning with her blue purse, but the 25-year-old nurse, along with her blue dress and blue shoes, vanished into the night. Her skull was found near Bear Valley Road in 1986.
